GELIBOLU ROV
Work Class Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle

ROV is the acronym of “ Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle”. ROV is a tethered submerged robotic system that contains vast diversity of sensors and mechanisms in order to perform underwater military and civilian operations. Additional sensors or equipments are commonly added to expand the vehicle’s capabilities. These additions may be magnetometer, robotic arms, cutting equipments and etc. Generally ROV is connected to mothership or command console by a tehter cable. This cable contains power source cables and control signal cables that directed the ROV. Numerous ROVs were produced in order to be used in energy, defense and scientific research fields. They are capable to perform between 100 and 6000 meters depth.
Most common usage of ROV are recovery and mine countermeasurement in defense industry. Also, ROVs are widely used in oil industry to examine and for the maintenance of underwater oil pipes. In civil application, for instance in telecomminication industry, the ROV can lay cable down in underwater and proceed to examine and, in case, to repaire them. Furthermore, scientific utiliziation of ROV is also avaible. ROV is used for gathering samples, taking photos and placing equipments underwater. Remotely operated underwater vehicles are capable to efficiently perform till 6000 metres depth. Thus, services can be succesfully accomplished by diminishing risk for diver health.
GELİBOLU ROV is work class ROV that preferred by Turkish Navy in 2010 in order to operate in submarine recovery operation. Two units of GELIBOLU ROV will be placed onto search and rescue ships which is manufactured by Istanbul Shipyard. And these ROVs will be put under Turkish Naval Force’s order in 2015. GELIBOLU is carrying name of the first national system that operated in submarine search, rescue, and scientific purpose by the help of acoustic, chemical sensors and sample gathering apparatus.

Besides that GELIBOLU is designed by a state-of-art engineering skills, equipped with high quality cameras, more payload capacity and more robust control system and manufactured by high-end manufacturing techniques and materials. Therefore, GELIBOLU is a superior work class ROV compared to equivalent ROVs.
