AUV is the acronym of “Autonomous Underwater Vehicle”. AUV is a kind of underwater submarine system that serves both civilian and military operations. These systems include several sensors feeded on internal battery blocks. Numerous AUV were designed and manufactured in order to be used in Defense, Energy and Scientific research fields. They are able to operate in a depth range between 100 and 6000 meters. 

Most common AUV usage area is Oil (energy) industry. In this scope AUV’s are used to map the sea baseline in details. In addition to that, the examination of the underwater pipes is another common usage. One more usage of AUV is hydrographic and oceanographic researches, but also lake's investigation. 

 

During all those missions, a wide range of sensors and equipements can be mounted on AUV vehicle. For instance: Multibeam Ecosouder side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, CTD, DO, pH, Redox, etc. 

AUV's military applications mostly regard the mine sweeping, countermeasure and demolition. AUVs specialized for these scopes use forward looking sonar and side scan sonar to gather data of mine and process the data with mission computer in order to countermeasure mine. Moreover, AUV can record the position of mines with USBL or LBL positioning systems.

TR-Teknoloji designed and manufactured two different kind of AUV system for different type of applications. GMK is small, moduler thus, more flexible system. AUV is bigger, equipped with more sensors and hardware. Therefore, AUV is presenting more endurance, more range and more stable due to its state-of-art hydrodynamic design.
